Your first request

Run Conflux, connect official free accounts and verify your first generation.

v0.3.0 · Updated November 2, 2026
On this page

1. Start the gateway

Use the Conflux source checkout. Node.js 22.13 or newer is required; Node 24 is recommended. The package and container image have not been published to a public registry.

Docker · from the source checkout
docker compose up --build -d
# Open http://localhost:3000

For a local Node installation:

Terminal
npm ci
npm run build
PORT=3000 npm start
# Open http://localhost:3000

2. Connect your provider accounts

  • Create the administrator password on first run, or sign in with your existing account.
  • Open Providers, choose an eligible adapter and add a fresh official free-tier key. For captures, use test or demo keys only.
  • Use Test to check model-catalog reachability, then verify actual generation in Playground.
  • Repeat for the accounts you want in the pool. Keep account allowances and provider terms in view.

Demo provider setup. Catalog reachability is checked here; verify generation separately.

3. Configure a working route

Open Models and edit a virtual model chain. Each hop contains a provider and an exact upstream model ID. Put verified routes first. Coding routes need tool-capable models; use Route Inspector to see why a hop qualifies or is skipped.

Groq openai/gpt-oss-120b and OpenRouter cohere/north-mini-code:free passed coding tests in the demo pool. LLM7 gpt-oss:20b passed a current tool-call test. Earlier GLM-5.3-Flash JSON/SSE proof is historical; that ID is absent from the October 24 catalog. Available model IDs and entitlement can change.

4. Issue a gateway key

Create an API Key or a Harness Profile. Copy the secret at creation and keep it locally. Client keys are hashed at rest; the console cannot recover the original secret. Restrict the model, budget and expiry to suit your tool.

Terminal
# Set CONFLUX_API_KEY locally to your gateway key.
# Never use the upstream provider key in the client.
curl http://localhost:3000/v1/chat/completions \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $CONFLUX_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"model":"conflux/chat","messages":[{"role":"user","content":"Reply with hello."}],"max_tokens":32}'

Open Usage Logs, expand the receipt and confirm the answering provider and a successful status. A short successful generation is your first acceptance check.
